Since 1949, China has had a policy of self-sufficiency in all sectors, since it has been banned, sanctioned and blockaded the whole time by the West. The International Space Station, which I reported on here, is just one of countless examples. Satellites are another industry on Baba Beijing’s long list and they will be using this latest EM one for earthquake detection and soft power, to offer the same data around the world.
